Aster Property management is a member of the Aster Group, a thriving partnership providing homes and housing related services in central southern and south west England. Group companies have assets exceeding £500 million, annual turnover of over £70 million and between them employ over 800 colleagues. The operating companies own and manage over 16,000 homes and provide services to more than 40,000 people.

The strong growth over the last three years was recognised in 2006 when Aster Group was given the 'Beacon Company' award by the South West Regional Development Agency. In the Housing Excellence Awards 2006 Aster Group was named Social Landlord of the Year and in March 2007 won the Property and Construction category in the Wiltshire Business of the Year Awards.

Aster Group is the parent Company and provides some services to our Group members. In particular it has a dynamic and growing development team and is one of the Housing Corporation’s Lead Partners. In this role it also provides development agency services to other organisations and is the Lead Investor for the New Futures partnership of regional and specialist housing associations who between them have a programme delivering around 800 affordable homes for rent and sale a year.

Aster Group operating companies have a substantial degree of operational independence but work closely together to gain maximum benefit from combined strength and resources.

Aster Property Management has recently benefitted from considerable investment and is leading the way with a new integrated mobile and enterprise management system to improve the delivery and efficiency of maintaining over 10,000 of its homes in Wiltshire and Hampshire.

Initially, 50 of Aster Property Management’s operatives have been equipped with mobile devices to reduce paperwork (completing job schedules, health and safety forms, tenant signature capture and repair description and invoices) when they are working off site and provide reporting back to head office in ‘real time’.

The new system is helping to save money on productivity by reducing the total time for each job, better management of resources for job despatch and vehicle inspections. There are also savings in fuel costs as jobs are be allocated by geographical location of the operative thereby enabling each team to do more repairs in a day and improve services to residents.

Residents and other clients play a strong role in influencing the operating and surveys show that the organisations enjoy high rates of satisfaction with the services they deliver with around nine out of ten tenants saying that they are very or fairly satisfied with their landlord.
